THE CHRISTMAS EXTRAORDINARY EXTRAVAGANZA BENCH AND DEADLIFT CHALLENGE

WITH THE BENCH FOR REPS BIG GIRLS BLOUSE CHALLENGE AND THE STRICT CURL FOR MONSTERS CHALLENGE (winner based on Wilks)

and Qualifiers for the British Championships and European Championships 2019

When is this awesomeness? Saturday 8th December 2018

Host: The Academy

Promoter: Emma and Kalle Ylitalo-James

Where is this festive feast of delight?  The Academy - Group Transformation Centre, Waterside Mill, Waterside, Macclesfield SK11 7HP

What time will I start lifting in my Christmas outfit? 11am

What are the weigh in times (minus the mince pies)?

Weigh in: 24 hour weigh in 11am to 12 noon and 5-6pm AND On the day weigh in: 9am to 10am

ITS THE CHRISTMAS COMPETITION! This is Emma and Kalle's Christmas comp where the fun of competing with a bit of festive spirits mixes with pure unadulterated all out RAAAAAAAAAAAAR to hit PB's, break records, qualify for single lifts for next years British Championships and Europeans and make it either fun or serious. HOWEVER, every competitor has to wear SOMETHING related to Christmas. If you are going for records then yeah, you have to have the proper kit on which is a bit boring, but hey, others will make up for it!

ALSO we have the bench for reps competition - a special award will go to the the winner which will be on Wilks! Men must bench bare chested with their own body weight for maximum number of reps and feet in the air, women will bench 2 thirds of their own body weight for reps with feet in the air as well! (I have won this over my husband before so ladies just do it!!) It costs an extra £5 to add onto your entry for bench or deadlift.

AND we have the strict curls Monster Challenge - yep its the ILS syndrome favourite, the strict bicep curl!  This will be on Wilks as well and will be the heaviest weight in a single curls and will go in rounds. Its will be weight curled + bodyweight + gender + age. So EVERYONE has a chance on Wilks! Special prize for the winner!

It will be held this year at the fabulous Academy in Macclesfield AND THEY HAVE HEATING (unlike our Selfish Pro last year!!). Food, cheer and refs dressed as Christmas fairies will be ready to white light you and you never know - your hosts may even lift as well.

This is the boring stuff to follow:

You can claim British records only at this qualifier but we will have best lifter awards and a best of the best! This will be a qualifier for the BPU/ABPU British Championships at BODYPOWER, the ONLY was you can get to the WPC Worlds in Finland in November 2019 and the AWPC World Championships in August 2019 in ORLANDO FLORIDA!! It is also a qualifier for the AWPC/WPC European Championships in Limerick, Ireland in June 2019. If you are not at the medals ceremony, no medals or best lifter awards will be posted out - please be aware and get someone to collect it if you need to leave.

Please remember a few things - your entry form and payment MUST be done at the same time, you MUST complete ALL the information on the form, if you dont have your membership number yet then we have a special offer which has already started - take membership when the entry form goes live and you get 2019 included. You MUST however, email your membership number as SOON AS you receive it (the details of this are on the form) as if you have no membership, your entry will be void and there will be no refund. If you have applied for membership then you put the date you applied on the form (we will check it). Email memberships@britishpowerliftingunion.co.uk if you haven't got your number yet and dont have a coronary if it hasn't arrived in 60 seconds! Just email Kate nicely and ask and all will be well - dont worry if it hasnt come through yet, just write "applied for" on the entry form and email it over IMMEDIATELY when you get it. If you have a 2018 membership number, then you will need to email christmas@britishpowerliftingunion.co.uk with your NEW 2019 number or current 2018 as soon as you renew. We check them all.

THE ONE AND ONLY ALAN COLLINS CUP and South Coast Qualifier 2019 We have NO full power places left either Saturday or Sunday and are now running a reserve list. WE HAVE SPACES FOR SINGLE LIFT SPECIALISTS on the Saturday night competition only.

WHEN WHEN WHEN???? Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January 2019

Promoter: Emma and Kalle Ylitalo-James

Where? Britannia Grand Burstin Hotel, Marine Parade, The Harbour, Folkestone CT20 1TX

How many places are there? 35 for Saturday full power and 35 for Sunday full power. On the Saturday evening there will be a total of 40 places in the single lifts evening "do" from 6.30pm. This competition sells out extremely fast and entries will close as soon as they places are filled.

THIS IN AN INTERNATIONALLY SANCTIONED AWPC AND WPC EVENT. This means there is an international sanction in place for you to take World Records with internaitonal referees flown over as other countries MUST be on platform to referee with a sanction.

Whats the schedule then?

Saturday 26: FULL POWER ONLY - All women’s classes, all men’s teens and juniors AND men’s open and masters up to and including 82.5kg

Saturday 6.30pm: ALL SINGLE LIFTS – BENCH AND DEADLIFT - EVERYONE

Sunday 27: FULL POWER ONLY - all men open and masters from 90kg and upwards

Please note you will NOT be able to combine full power and single lifts events within full power. If you are competing single lifts- single lifts are ONLY available on the evening of Saturday 26th.

Why is this such a big deal? Cuz its fecking fabulous! The Alan Collins Cup is named after the man that had a featuring part to play in the beginnings and continued support of the federation. The President of the federation could not have managed through many of the issues setting up the federation without the help of Alan and this is in some small way to say thank you. The event is held in the very awesome Grand Burstin Hotel and is held in the basement in the event room - the atmosphere is electric, we have some majorly big lifters compete here and even the  President has been known to compete even though she usually lifts outside the UK now, its just that special! We have international foreign referees and this year the SINGLE LIFTS WILL BE HELD IN THE EVENING ONLY ON SATURDAY! We are having a party, with food for the single lifters (yep im biased) and some drinks while the evening lifting is going on to rev up the noise, hype up the atmosphere and make it a night to remember for all the lifters.

During the day on both days is our focus on the full power people - we have had many world records taken at this venue as well as many new faces and it has become a firm favourite for many of our lifters since it started on 2017. The atmosphere in this small event space is pretty awesome and thats why the places are limited to give our lifters the best stress free environment possible and of course then there are the swords, daggers, bludgeons and battle axes as best lifter awards.

HOTEL DEAL

Now, the Grand Burstin is a favourite of ours - we know it, the staff are wonderful and please be aware this is a tourist class hotel and is basic. however, the food is plentiful, cheap, the lunch buffet is £5 and the drinks are cheap and flowing!

The hotel is offering you a deal of £32 per room per night and all you have to do is to email sales725@britanniahotels.com quoting BPU2019 for your discount price AND THEY KNOW US! you can also telephone them as well Tel:  01303 854 506 and book your room quoting the same code. It is a fun place to stay and we all stay there every year!
